The winners of Amsterdam Euros were Patrick Rooney and Eoghan Casey (Kings Inns A) from Ireland and Filip Muki Dobranic and Maja Cimerman (Ljubljana A) from Slovenia in the category ‘English as a Second Language’ (ESL). Best speakers in the preliminary rounds were Fred Cowell from ULU, England, and Jeroen Heun from Erasmus, the Netherlands, in the ESL category. Congratulations to all of them for a great job!

The Tab

The results of the eight preliminary rounds of Amsterdam EUDC 2010 are summarised in the tab, which gives the sixteen best teams and the sixteen best teams in the English as a Second Language category. The tab can be found here. Teams up until number eighteen broke to the Open Quarterfinals, as two teams that were in the top sixteen, Team Australia and Team London, were not eligible to break.

The tab is organised on the basis of team points and speaker points. Team points are allocated to the teams in a debate, with three points for the winners, two for the numbers two, one fore the numbers three and zero for the last teams in a debate. Each individual speaker is assigned an individual score for each speech during the preliminary rounds. Of the teams with the same number of team points, the ones with the highest total speaker points are ranked first. A separate speaker tab showing the best speakers is included in the tab.
